IS IT THE RIGHT MACHINE FOR THE JOB

and

PRESSURE WASHERS AIN'T PRESSURE WASHERS

Pressure washers, steam cleaners, hydro blasters; Karchers, Spitwaters, Kews, Jetblasters, Laor Washeres, Kerricks, Aussie Cleaners, Gernies, Comets, to name a few.

There is a very large range of makes and models from small hand-held's to large three phase units and up to multi pump systems and trailer mounted units.

The varying models and the vast amount of different sizes can become quite confusing to you the customer. All you really need and want is the right machine for the job, one that will perform correctly and live the expected time with minimal costs to you. You expect that when you are approached about buying a pressure washer that you are informed correctly on the right machine.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT MACHINE FOR THE JOB

The are a few pointers that you can use when choosing the machine you need that will perform to your requirements.

1) What will the unit be needed / used for?

2) How many hours will it be used a day (don't under estimate it's use.)?

3) What speed of operation is required from the unit?

4) Does the unit need to change locations continually?

5) How long do you expect the unit to be in service for before replacement?

When you have completed the above, then you can ask the salesman for the information about the machines he has. The salesman should have a complete write up about his machines and what uses they are best suited for.

Also part of the information he has, should cover what the duty ratings of the machine he is offering are; similar to the following:

A) Domestic uses only

B) Light duty usage - Semi Professional (a couple of hours a day)

C) Medium duty usage - Professional (three to four hours a day)

D) Heavy duty usage - Industrial (four and above hours a day)

THAT IT DOES THE CLEANING TASK REQUIRED WITH EASE.

Then you as the customer can haggle on price of the unit, service contracts, does this company back up the sale with back up service and training of your employees, are spare parts readily available.

As a helpful suggestion - price can sometimes put you off but what should be remembered is that the wrong machine can end up costing more, due to repairs, down time and your frustration. What we all need and want is a machine that performs to what we want at minimal extra cost and time lost.

IF YOU ALREADY HAVE A MACHINE YOU COULD APPLY THE ABOVE PRINCIPLES TO IT AS AN ADDITIONAL POINT, A SIMPLE RULE OF THUMB FOR HOT WATER UNITS IS: "IF IT USES MORE THAN A TANK OF FUEL A DAY THEN IT ISN'T LARGE ENOUGH FOR THE JOB YOU ARE DOING."

PRESSURE WASHERS AIN'T PRESSURE WASHERS

Besides the information given about choosing the right machine for the job we also have the simple FACT that not all pressure washers are the same. The specifications might read the same and have similar functions' this doesn't mean they are equal in the longesvity and durability as each other.

Just like cars you can have a Mini or a Rolls, both are worlds apart on style, ability, longevity, durability and price, but you know what to expect. The same goes with pressure washers as well.

Also watch out for someone who's trying to sell you a small, underpowered unit because it might meet your budget. It might even do the job when it is first shown to you, but will it actually do the job as required without wearing out prematurely.

A professional, when doing a job, buys the right tools and equipment for the jobs he is to perform. He doesn't buy a hobby welder when doing a industrial welding job. The hobby welder wouldn't last and this is the same with pressure washers.
